As I was reading Chapter 22 of Luke, I came across the story of Peter disowning Jesus three times… and then I thought, “Wow… what if I ever came into a situation where a gun was pointed to my head and I had to choose to live by denying or die and be martyred. Certainly, it would be so saddening if I denied God as my Lord and Savior. It would be the most disappointing moment to God and also a discouraging moment for all of my brothers and sisters.”

…and then I thought of this vow to God:

“I will never answer to another human being, forcing authority over me in times of trial and tribulation. For if I do answer to him, he will become my god and I will have disowned my true God.”

Hearing that rooster crow must’ve been the saddest and scariest moment of Peter’s life. Holy cow.

Before service yesterday, as I tried to calm my nerves and hear what the Spirit was saying to me, I decided to go on a walk around the church. About a quarter of a mile off, I saw a group of hispanic brothers sitting on the curb eating dinner. There were around 15 of them and they seemed to have…

The power of encouragement is so strong. Seriously. Especially when the encouragement is God-centered.

I am so fortunate to have fellow brothers who all share a common goal of striving to achieve a more intimate relationship with God…

The moments where my fellow brother expresses his desire to praise God is so priceless…

Some assorted thoughts of the night…

“I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward” (Philippians 3:14, AMP)One thing I’ve learned is that whenever life seems extra difficult, whenever it seems like the intensity has been turned up, that’s a sure sign that you are close to your victory. Whenever negative thoughts are bombarding your mind, or you’re tempted to get discouraged, that’s not the time to give up! That’s not the time to back down. That’s the time to dig your heels in. That’s the time to press on with a new attitude because you are closer than you think to your victory.
Maybe you’ve had a lot come against you lately. It seems like the more you pray, the worse things get. Maybe you are doing the right thing, but the wrong thing keeps happening. Instead of getting discouraged, begin to declare, “I’ve come too far to stop now! I’ve been through too much to back down. I realize the reason the intensity has been turned up is because I’m about to give birth to my dreams.”
Friend, don’t allow the enemy to steal from you any longer! Instead, press on toward the goal because you’ve come too far to give up now. Remember, God Almighty is with you, and He is leading and guiding you down the path of victory in every area of your life!
